Google is improving the way Google search provides information in two different languages, as well as enhancing Google’s voice search function that can recognize queries that employ the combination of two languages.

Search results displayed in the knowledge graph and certain sections such as “Related searches” and “People also ask” will appear in Hindi in addition to English in the Hindi-speaking regions of India regardless of the language the user was using to search. The new feature for bilingual search is now available in India but plans to include Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Bengali in the near future. The feature is location-based, so you might already have access if Google detects that you’re in an area of India in which Hindi is the predominant language.

Google’s voice search is also being enhanced to make it easier to distinguish between similar-sounding words spoken in English and Hindi while speaking Hinglish. The new speech recognition model will consider the speaker’s accent, the surrounding sounds, the context, and the speaking style, allowing the users to pose Indian language-related questions more naturally. Google has yet to announce a release day for its new speech recognition model or when it’ll be available to other hybrid languages or mixed-language queries. Bilingual search was  unveiled at the  8th Google for India conference. Google is also working to develop “a single, unified AI model that will be capable of handling over 100 Indian languages across speech and text,” according to an article on the blog by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet.

It’s just one of the moves Google has taken to assist multilingual users. Google is already compatible with Hinglish; for instance, it is possible to set up Google Assistant on your device to handle various languages. These language options currently don’t expand to encompass Google information boxes, such as knowledge graphs; however, Google Assistant currently only supports queries or commands that mix multiple languages simultaneously.

Google is the pioneer in various basic techniques utilized in AI, which seeks to be authentic and bold. Technology innovation, whether it’s an all-search, bilingual or multi-search option that provides precise information, is an essential aspect in improving the quality of people’s lives.
